COPY CAP

 

 

 

Caring for Other People by Youth - Careers & Pathways is a program which exposes young people to the Community Services and Health industry.

Community Services and Health is one of the fastest growing industries in Australia, with many opportunities for employment in our local region.

 

Participants in the COPY CAP program explore occupations such as child care workers, allied health assistants, aged and disability workers, nursing and many more.

You can choose to participate in COPY CAP if you like caring for or helping other people and you have a keen interest in learning about the ccommunity services and health industry.

 

COPY CAP can help you:

·                    Learn about the different careers in the community services and health industry

·                    Understand the pathways from school to GippsTAFE and university

·                    See what employment is available in the Latrobe Region

·                    Hear from and talk to people working in hospitals and other centres

·                    Realise your interest in helping other people and the opportunity to make a difference in other people’s lives

Program Elements

Selection Process

20 students will be selected to participate in the COPY CAP program. All students will be required to complete an application process which includes an application form and a vocational assessment to confirm their interest in caring for or helping other people.

 

Industry  Orientation

Students will learn about the community services and health industry through a variety of orientation activities. They will hear from people working in aged care, disability services and child care, as well as nursing and allied health areas such as physiotherapy, speech therapy, dietetics and podiarty. Students will visit centres and hospitals and speak with young professionals working in the industry.

 

Work Experience

Students will be given the opportunity to undertake work experience in a career that interests them, giving them a real life      experience of the tasks, skills and attitudes required for the position, as well as experiencing the work environment and people.

Note: Work Experience is subject to employer availability. Students are encouraged to consider related careers where they would be required to work with the public. Students wishing to go on to study a VETiS program in year 11 will complete a work placement as part of their assessment.

 

Job Skills Expo

Students will be invited to a Job Skills Expo where local providers will display and demonstrate careers within their organisation.
