Dioramas – Electricity Distribution Landscapes
The Baw Baw Latrobe LLEN has 4 dioramas available for
schools and community organisations to utilise. The “power grid” dioramas model
the terrain through which a power line has to pass, they are complete with
trees, roads, sacred sites, hills and lakes to make the task as realistic as
possible. Using Blu Tack, cross arms, posts and wires the power lines must be
constructed and tested.
Originally built by SP Ausnet, the dioramas were
intended to give young people a greater insight into the power distribution
industry and the variety of career pathways available in the industry.
The dioramas have many uses; your imagination is the
limit. One popular activity is linked for you to view and use if appropriate.
This particular activity involves students competing with each other to design
and build the cheapest and most efficient transmission line between a power
supply and a high rise office building.
The
dioramas are available to schools, community organizations and careers expos to
assist in improving young people’s understanding of the energy industry. There
is no cost associated with the use of the dioramas. If you would like any further
information on the dioramas or would like to book them for your school please
